The Jugged Hare, London
When you first enter the atmosphere around the bar belches "Pub!" but as you descend the stairs into the dining room with its rich woods and red leather booths it reassures you it's a restaurant.
The crowd was lively and the staff busy; but not busy to scoff through our questions about Today's Game or what to expect from their signature dish. Our glasses of red wine never emptied and the bottle recommendations kept coming.
I had ordered the Mallard, as you see below, and the meat was tender, juicy, and full of flavour. It was the perfect compliment to the sides of cabbage, bacon, game chips, and red wine jus.
